足部結構及功能:主要保持身體平衡;平均人一生可步行作五次橫繞地球的旅程。但是得不到應有的護理,反而藏於鞋內及甚至被遺忘.........直至它們作出投訴。
足部是指腳眼及以下的部位,每一隻共有二十六塊小骨頭,分佈的韌帶、肌肉、血管及神經組織組成。和手部及眼部同樣為身體提供應有功能,在長時間的勞損下,無疑會產生毛病。
 
另外足部可反影出身體的健康狀況。病症如糖尿病、風濕關節炎、血液運行及神經組織等病徵。
 
足部護理正確的第一步:
正如擦牙一樣;從這一刻間始,應作出以下的步驟:
  • 每天用溫水清洗足部,不可浸得太久,然後抹乾,尤其注意腳趾之間。 
  • 若有需要,可用浮石把硬厚的皮膚磨去。 
  • 修剪腳甲,要平著橫剪,不可太深及太短,並可用趾甲銼把趾甲角位銼滑。 
  • 做適量運動,可加強下肢血液循環。 
  • 若發覺足部有紅腫、損傷、灼傷、變色或腳痛等問題時,應及早找醫護人員診治。 
  • 若可能應由足病診療師作定期性的足部健康檢查,尤其是足部易生毛病的患者。
特別護理: 老年人、糖尿病病人或任何人的足部易產生問題的患者,應該特別注意足部的健康。
 
專業護理: 簡單的基本衛生常識及作定期性的腳甲修剪都應足夠保持足部健康。 但發覺問題出現時,便最好找專業護理。一般常見要有特別護理的足部問題如:
  • 陷甲 (內生甲) 
  • 硬皮增生過多(胼胝)及雞眼(釘胼) 
  • 灰趾甲、足癬(甲癬、香港腳) 
  • 皮膚疣(由過濾性病毒引致) 
  • 足跟痛
以上的問題有些是因為身體本身的毛病或遺傳引致的,亦可因體重壓力不平均及不健康的鞋襪或某種特別腳形所導致的。
 
General Footcare Tips
  1. Don't ignore foot pain. It's not normal. If the pain persists, contact our clinic.
  2. Inspect your feet regularly. Pay attention to changes in colour and temperature. Look for thick or discoloured nails (a sign of developing fungus), and check for cracks or cuts in the skin. Peeling or scaling on the soles of feet could indicate Athlete's foot. Any growth on the foot is not considered normal.
  3. Wash your feet regularly, especially between the toes, and be sure to dry them completely.
  4. Trim toenails straight across, but not too short. Be careful not to cut nails in corners or on the sides; it can lead to ingrown toenails. Persons with diabetes, poor circulation or heart problems should not treat their own feet because they are more prone to infection.
  5. Make sure that your shoes fit properly. Purchase new shoes later in the day when Professional foot care includes basic nail care & mild dry and hard skin care of the foot and leg, and foot massage are provided by trained by Foot care Nurses.
    feet tend to be at their largest and replace worn out shoes as soon as possible.
  6. Select and wear the right shoe for the activity that you are engaged in (i.e. running shoes for running).
  7. Alternate shoes - don't wear the same pair of shoes every day.
  8. Avoid walking barefooted. Your feet will be more prone to injury and infection. At the beach or when wearing sandals always use sun block on your feet as the rest of your body.
  9. Be cautious when using home remedies for foot ailments. Self-treatment can often turn a minor problem into a major one.
  10. If you are a diabetic, contact our clinic at least once a year for a check-up.
